Swiss/French Alps Andermatt Morzine Lauterbrunnen 3 Stop Cycle Tour

This is a tour which covers similar territory and distances as the Multi-stop tours but with the benefit of being able to enjoy 2-3 days in spectacular locations across the alps from which any number of day rides are possible.

Our first port of call after leaving the Zurich and the Appenzell region by bus is Andermatt which is a quintessential Swiss town and lies at the virtual intersection of two large valleys deep in the Swiss Alps. From here we can enjoy two different cycling adventures. On day one, the Susten, Grimsel and Furkha Passes in a loop back to Andermatt and on day two a short bus trip takes us to the base of the Klausen Pass and a loop via the Pragel Pass back to Andematt. This landscape on this day is almost unrivalled in Switzerland with magnificent views from the bike of the Klontaler See and Lake Lucerne for many, many kilometres! An alternative option for either day is the loop into Italy and back via the Furkha, the Nufenen and the St Gottardo.

After Andermatt we make our way down the Rhone River valley and turn in and stop at the very famous Swiss town of Zermatt at the base of the Matterhorn. On a cloudless day this mountain has to be seen to be believed. From there we head toward the Haute Savoie region of the French Alps and stay a couple of days in Morzine which is often a destination in the Tour d France. From there we tackle the climbs to Avoriaz and a beautiful circuit through Samoens and Taninges and then back to Morzine. On day two we ride down the La Dranse River valley toward Lake Geneva and follow the lake to Evian where we stop for lunch and can sample all the pure Evian water you want from a brass tap at the source for free!

After Morzine we make our way back into Switzerland through Gstaad and on to Lauterbrunnen in the Jungfrau region where we have the choice of white water rafting, cable cars to glacier treks and ice caves and even helicopter flights to make the most the incredible scenery here. A ride round to Grindelwald and a coffee at the base of the Eiger is a must before leaving this awesome region.

From there we make our way back toward Zurich, not before spending a night in a mountain hut high in the Alpstein region of the Swiss Alps!
