LUKMANIER PASS ADVENTURE BASE EXPERIENCE
|
|
|
TOUR DESCRIPTION:
This
tour is different from the other European tours we offer in that it is
based in one region and uses one accommodation base, Hotel Cuntera in
the Medelser Tal, Switzerland. From there a wide variety of activities
are possible, with all cycling and white water rafting options being vehicle
supported. Hiking options are guided and transport to all activities and
venues is by way of our support vehicle.So..if you are into pure mountain air, crystal clear nights and picturesque views to die for, the Lukmanier Pass in Val Medel in southern Switzerland has it all. Not far from the Italian border, Val Medel has has a lot more to offer than one might imagine. Situated between the St Gotthard and St Bernard Passes, The Lukmanier is a quiet, virtually traffic-free pass in close proximity to activities to offer the cyclist and their party who are looking to more than just the cycling experience on a holiday. Sure
we cater to the cyclist who would like to pedal some of the famous passes
of the Tour of Switzerland, namely the Oberalp, Furka and Nufenen, and
while the Lukmanier Pass itself is not one of the famous "Tour" passes,
it is only 14 kilometres up the valley and offers spectacular views. Here
however, road cycling need only be one of the recreational pursuits on
offer. Indeed with the aid of our support vehicle should it be needed,
our guides will take you on daily tours in even ones and two as others
pursue other activities on offer like mountain biking, hiking, parasailing,
white-water rafting and tennis. In the evening we return to our hotel
situated some distance up the valley where expansive views of Val Medel
and the Rhine Valley in the direction of Austria can be taken in. Even
in the summer our customers awake to see the glaciers and snow-covered
peaks of Piz Medel (3211 metres) opposite, Oberalpstock (3228 metres)
to the left and Piz Pazzola (2581 metres) right behind and only an hour’s
walk. Make
no mistake Val Medel and the Lukmanier Pass region is not commercialised
and evidence of the ancient Swiss way of life still abounds. In fact the
owner of our hotel has lived in the village where he eventually built
his hotel his entire life! He loves the valley and its rural way of life
that enabled him to enjoy life as a dairy farmer before setting up his
hotel. He even converted his old Swiss farmhouse a few metres from the
hotel into bunkhouse style accommodation for those keen to enjoy even
more budget style living quarters, while still being able to take advantage
of the hotel’s fine restaurant as part of their holiday package. Our Lukmanier
Pass Adventure Base Experience holiday is unique. While being fully supported
and catered for, customers do not have to meet daily distance targets
on this holiday. There are no schedules or deadlines involved, you are
simply free to relax and enjoy, and if you feel like "going for it" one
day then we are right there with you in case the weather becomes incl. One thing is for sure; you will never forget your time in this breathtaking Swiss valley. I know we don’t! The valley remains a special part of our European experiences. Come and enjoy it with us. For more details click through... Enquire about particular dates and costs through our Contact Us section.
